My 2007 Liberty Ltd. 4X4 -- really babied, never abused -- rear passenger window fell off track at 57,000. We never USE that window, so it has not been worn at all. It needed a regular, and a new door panel (also never used). The bill was $970 to repair parts which never get use, and which will rarely be used in the future. W T F! This Liberty is Trail Rated, but who could trust body integrity on the trail?

So I have a 07 Liberty with a custom window tint job. My driver front window started sliding down when it was below freezing... thank god for duct tape. Talking to the dealer he said the new design of regulators came with glass and does not work independently. Meaning, I have to spend $400 for a new glass and regulator, and I'll end up with 3 tinted windows and 1 bare glass. It was suggested by Autozone that I go look up junkyards for a good regulator.

Why am I always plagued with window problems??? My 3rd car and my 3rd window problem. My next car will have no more windows.

Lets begin with the CURRENT auto issues that we ALL get to hear about EVERY HOUR, on ANY news channel- WE BAILED THESE MONSTERS OUT of a HUGE financial dump, and they continue to rape us with defects in material, piss poor design and WONT BACK IT UP, without a cool thousand dollars on my "dime". AND THEN let them haul home million dollar salaries, and out of this world "BONUS CHECKS?" The world is watching Toyota get tarred and feathered over a design flaw effecting several models. We are supporting "OUR" CONGRESS to hear a CORPORATE APOLOGY??? "REALLY" ???
but what else is commendable, is Toyota is fixing the problem at NO COST TO THE CONSUMER.
(I use Caps 'cause it makes it funner than cursing)
Now let me get started with my BEEF

Our 2007 Jeep Liberty is suffering from the same POS window regulator as many others. we had the left passenger fall down while driving on the freeway- at 36,600 miles.
(Imagine being in an airplane and the pilot popping the hatch) It raises hell on kids ears!! not to mention your immediate reaction is to BOLT to the emergency lane to check out "where the hell your window just disappeared to?" I took it to the closest dealer to the freeway, and was told, "its passed the 36K warranty, (600 miles) but they could order the NEWER revised part and put it in for a DANDY 465.00 I let him know that was a little odd that they (Jeep) doesn't consider it a big enough safety issue to issue a recall. Arent windows a standard requirement on a new passenger car?
It doesn't end... last month the drivers window bailed out too! So now we are looking at close to 1000 dollars to fix both of them! I am still waiting for my stimulus check from our wonderful administration, so currently, we are driving around with bright orange tape holding these windows up, until I can raise enough hell to get it fixed.
This will not be my last effort to contact Jeep, and pop the questions to obtain some sort of resolution, and from what I've read here, there's PLENTY OF US to push the issue.
I am a strong advocate of AMERICAN autos- but it makes me wonder if they can regain my confidence, by taking care of the products they allow off the line.

The part that fails is a plastic block about the size of todays cell phones, it clips into the glass and it has a very small tab that the cable spools through to raise and lower the window, and it doesn't take much to see that it is weak, VERY WEAK in the design. For the Jeep name- I would have thought it would be a LITTLE MORE ON THE RUGGED SIDE???
I'm going to end here... (for now) and I am considering going down to the mall, and ha'ing one of the vinyl window decals made up that has the ever so common phrase,
"IT"S A JEEP THING- YOU WOULDN'T UNDERSTAND" fixed up with the J crossed out and a "CH" overlapped, to say "IT'S A CHEEP THING - I DON'T UNDERSTAND?"
I do ask that if ENOUGH of us "PROUD JEEP OWNERS" GET 'TOGETHER' it may put a little more meaning to our point. COME ON CHRYSLER- DO A RECALL!!!

I bought a 2007 Jeep Liberty used with 7000 miles on it. I bought it at a jeep dealership with a warrenty. 6 months after the purchase the passenger front window started rolling up vveerryy slow. I called jeep and they said bring it in. I took it in and talked to another customer also having his window reg. replaced. He said there are thousands of complaints about this problem. So I asked the mechanic whats the deal with these things and he replied "they are a poor design and will only continue to go bad." He stated that "all jeep liberty windows will fail".

I find this upsetting that even jeeps mechanics know this is a bad business practice. I tried to talk to the mechanic again when i went in for an oil change but he had quit working for them. Now when I roll up the drivers window it starts to go up and then gets crooked and all but stops. I have to pull the window up while pressing the button at the same time. Oh yah, and the passenger window is super slow again. It takes about 30 seconds for it to go up when it is cold out but almost sounds like its putting such a drag on the reg motor that it is only a matter of time before it totally goes out.

So now both front windows operate poorly!! WHAT IS THE ISSUE HERE JEEP? SHOULD ALL OF US PISSED OFF BUT LOYAL CUSTOMERS REVOLT AGAINST YOU? DONT LET YOURSELF BY COMPAIRED WITH THE LIKES OF TOYOTA AND ALL THEIR CURRENT ISSUES THAT STEM FROM BEING CHEEP TO MAKE AN EXTRA BUCK. TAKE CARE OF US CUSTOMERS THAT KEEP YOU IN BUSINESS AND PAY YOUR FAT SALLERIES. WE LOVE JEEPS, NOT CORPORATE GREED !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! WHATS UP JEEP? THE MASS LAWSUTES ARE ABOUT TO START. I had the driver's side front power window go out, about a month ago. Thankfully, it (window, tracks, regulator) were replaced under warranty. Just this last Friday, the passenger's side rear window "dropped from sight" into the door. With concerns about possible vehicle theft (could not lock the car up), I brought it into the local Colorado Springs dealer. The vehicle is hardly used (8,200 total miles), and with just my wife and I, we never open the rear windows (except perhaps infrequently, by hitting the wrong power window button the on the console).

We are out of warranty by NINE DAYS, and we were quoted a repair cost of 500 DOLLARS. The dealer said they would attempt to get a lower repair cost, considering the very low miles, and the fact it just came out of warranty. Having said that, I discovered this site over the weekend, and the long, long littany of problems Jeep is having with these window assemblies. This is UNFORGIVABLE, that any established company will charge (and in many cases, charge over and over again) for a repair that is solely due to poor engineering and construction. I'm a certified senior mechanical engineer, and a Director of Logistics and Reliability for a large defense contractor; if my company had done, what Jeep is CURRENTLY DOING with these clearly unsatisfactory power window designs, we'd be out of business. Oh.... sorry..... Jeep and Chrysler are! Now, if they only had the integrity to fix their sadly-tarnished reputation and also fix these problems at NO COST with an IMPROVED DESIGN.

Have had all of the window regulators replaced since I purchased the vehicle. Now less than a year later the rear window on the drivers side is broken again (hardly ever used prior to breaking) the drivers side front is messed up again. Dealer I purchased from went bankrupt prior to finishing the work. Went in to get it fixed was told to come back. Guess what they were locked up tight. Contacted Chrysler/Jeep was told so sorry, maybe you can try to get another dealer to make good on the work. Yeah right and if I sit in the snow my butt doesn't get cold either. I will never buy another Jeep/Chrysler product as long as I live. The interior is cheap, the back seat upholstery keeps coming off. The air conditioner vent broke. The list goes on and on.

left rear window wouldn't go down, motor just whirrred. I couldn't get the left rear door open. Finally I got door open and found that a large screw was blocking the latch in the body where the door secures into place. Mechanic at dealership says it's the regulator, and he's seen many failures. Est. cost to repair,$300. Regulator has been replaced by a new type of regulator from different supplier to Jeep, which requires a new window. I refused to get it fixed for $300, and secured the window in the up position. Car is only two years old, with 25,000km, bought new. I am fighting Chrysler to cover the repair under my 3 year, 60k safety warranty. They are considering it. If you can't get out that door in an emergency like a fire, I'd say that's a safety issue, no?

To put into perspective, I otherwise love the 2007 Liberty. It's gotten me out of some tough snow situations; I'm just super pissed off with the service manager at my dealership---won't mention name, 'cause still expecting to get it repaired free.

I had one window fixed last year when they tech notified me that they ahd a recall on the window regulators, now both of my passenger side windows will not come up. I returned to the dealership and asked if they that these window regulators are faulty then why didn't they just replaced all off them at one time. The tech just looked at me like I wow... then he had look like "why we would do that when we can charge you for each window?".

American car companies wonder why people are not buying American made cars this is one reason why customer service. If you know the windows break why not just fix them all at the same time?

This is the 3rd out of all 4 windows to have a regulator failure. The first time was covered under warranty, the second two have failed just after the extended warranted ran out at 60,000 miles. Jeep has quoted $400.00 per window. The rear passenger side window is being held up by two suction cups and a shoestring. The front driver's side window just failed and is rolled all the way down. We are expecting snow in two days, and this is our only car.

Jeep needs to correct this. It looks like a common problem for many Liberty owners (2006 models have even more complaints).

About a year ago, our driver's side rear window regulator went out and a Jeep dealer replaced it with a charge to us of $50 (our extended warranty deductible). This past weekend, the passenger side window rolled down but will not roll up. Turns out it was the regulator again. This time, our extended warranty still covers the parts and labor but not the glass. So it will cost $230 out of pocket. After some research online, I discovered that is is an ongoing problem with Jeep Libertys. Its ridiculous that this is such a widespread problem and Jeep/Chrysler has not done anything about it. We called them today to file a complaint and they are supposedly getting back to us to let us know if there is anything they can do to help the cost.

I bought my 2007 jeep liberty about 6 months ago and it is my fav car I have ever owned until today. About 2 weeks ago the window quit working and just started falling down on its own and make a horrible noise when u try to roll it up. My husband spent a couple of hours last night looking at it and figured out it needed a regulator. So today I went to get one much to my suprise they told me the regulator is $155.00 but that is not all I have to also buy a new window. There is nothing wrong with the window that I have why should I be out the money to buy a new one. After a lot of research I have found that this is a common problem and Jeep is ripping people off because of it. I'm calling jeep today to see if they will take care of the problem if not I'm contacting a layer and I have a feeling I won't have a hard time finding people to back me up!!! I refuse to get screwed by a company that makes more money in a day then I do in a month!

We have a small car rental company -- For SUV's we use the Jeep Liberty's -- We own approx. 16 Jeep Liberty's -- We have 10 Jeep Liberty's that we have had to replace 1 or more window regulators in each one. We have one that we have replaced regulators for all 4 windows. I really cannot believe that there has never been a recall on these windows. I've never seen such a mess. Repairs average $480 for each window. For our SUV Fleet we are looking into replacing the Jeep Liberty's with KIA's. It's has just been too expensive to maintain the Jeep Liberty's. If there is anyone with Jeep reading this -- We want to keep the Jeep's but without some warranty or recall help on these windows we aren't going to be able to afford it. Thanks for giving us a chance to voice our problems!

This is the second time that this has happened to me the first time was about 4 months ago when it was pouring down rain it just decided to fall down in between the door (passenger rear), with my 10 month old sitting there. And then yesterday the front Passenger window fell. It happened sometime between 12 noon and 4:30 pm while I was at work. It is freezing cold outside and a pain in the ass to go outside to go home and realize hey where in the hell is my window. I took it up to the dealership where I purchased the car and the tech went outside put two fingers in between where the window rolls up came back in and said that it was the regulator. So now I am driving around with no damn window. I called Chrysler Motors 800-992-1997 and they said that they will see what they can do to offset the price. So anyone that has this problem needs to call them and see if they can help you out as well. They helped with the first one and I only had to pay $211. Let me know if they help you out I would be interested to know, it might take them a day to get back with you but if it helps with the cost in these ruff times I would say it is worth it. I do know that I will never purchase another Jeep again. I speaking to a few of the Jeep dealerships in my area they said that this is an ongoing problem, 1 dealership also told me that there use to be a recall on this problem but they took it away. Well damn it is still a problem the Chrysler company that makes the Jeep Liberty needs to fix these at no cost to the buyer. If I would have know that this was going to be a problem I would have never purchased the vehicle.

This is the LAST STRAW! I may never buy an American car again, after this. This is the 3rd window that has broken, and my car is still fairly new. I haven't had my Liberty 3 years yet, and already 3 windows have broken. The economy sucks, and they want us to buy American, but they can't build the cars right the 1st time. This time I got an estimate of what it costs to fix the window... $613 - window motor, regulator (which is an updated model causing me to have to also replace the window), and the window. If this part has been updated because Jeep screwed up the first time, why is it we are responsible in paying for their mistakes? I AM TOTALLY ANGRY! And may NEVER buy American again. I would LOVE to trade this car in for a brand new, wont give me any problems for more than a few years, car!!!!!!

The 2nd window in a less than 2 year old car....OK, WTH! This is the 2nd incident but a different window that has broken in my 2007 Jeep Liberty. This time the entire window fell inside the door on our way back from the beach. 3 hour drive, window rolled down, hot summer day, child in the back seat = PRETTY ANGRY LIBERTY OWNER!!!!!
I never got this window fixed, but at least I got it to stay up.

Just got off the phone with Jeep, I need new regulators on both rear windows. Funny...when I took the Jeep into Naperville, IL Jeep they told me it was tight weather stripping...they knew the whole time! Now I need to shell out 450.00 for each side. Only a matter of time for my front windows. Previously I owned a 98 VW beetle and the same thing happened. After thousands of dollars in window replacement they reimbursed me...don't kid yourself, I will be asking for Jeep to do the same. Hey Jeep! - Recall this window regulator - do the right thing!

One week after I bought my jeep the back passenger window was rolling up very slowly. I took it to the dealership and this is when I was informed there was a manufacture defect in Jeep Liberty windows and they would not be covering the cost. 2 weeks later the window just fell down. 1 week after that a second window fell down when I learned that it was 450.00 per window to get it fixed I about died. I had my friend rig them to stay up. 3 months later the 3rd window fell down. I know have a brand new car (to me) that has only one slightly working window. ugh

Both of my back side windows have gone out/down, went off track within the last couple of months. I finally took it down to the dealership that I still have a warranty with and they basically said some thing about the windows being to heavy for the regulator & that they could replace the regulator, BUT I would have to buy new windows for both sides because my warranty wouldn't cover it. So I began checking this problem on line only to find out there are many people with this same problem. Why isn't there an investigation going on about this problem. Why do we have to pay out of pocket for this malfunction, that is obviously the manufactures fault. If I get this fix I'm sending them my bill.

Ok, this is the second time the rear passenger window regulator broke causing the window to be stuck in the open position. This time I'm going to see what is causing the problem (probably just a cheap bolt Chrysler doesn't want to pay the extra $.10 for) and fix it myself. I'm sure I can do a much better job that than the Dealership who will probably want to replace all for doors and the rear wheel. Duh?? I think ALL Jeep Liberty Owners should Unite and tape a Roll of Duct Tape on the front of their Hoods which could be the National Hood Ordament for Chrysler. Then when we pass each other on the roads we won't need to Wave, just point to our Hood Ordament and Nod saying "yeah, I know what you mean brother".

Ps. Does anyone know when Chysler will finally sell out to Korea and start making our cars in China?? I wonder if they will stamp Made in China on the bottom of the cars like they do with all of our toys?? Maybe repaint them with Lead Paint again so our kids have something to chew on while on Vacation??

Update from Nov 6, 2009: Ok, perhaps I was a little sarcastic in my first posting. It was just that I had to take time off from work to get our window fixed, yet again. This time the Dealer said they replaced the Regulator (with a new Metal gear, instead of the plastic one that keeps breaking causing the problem) and the window Run and a new Designed Window. They Repaired it in less than an hour. The window looks new (or the Mechanic is really talented with Windex) and works just fine Now. I've already scheduled time off from work every 6months for the next 3 years for the other 3 Windows and I've already purchased 6 rolls of Duct Tape, just in case my orginal Hood Ornament Idea catches on and there becomes a world wide shortage of Duct Tape due to Chrysler Window Problems. Actually, I heard rumor that the Engineers that designed the Jeep Windows, were actually a Pack of Dogs, maybe that has something to do with the windows getting stuck in the Down Position all the time??? Just a rumor from my Miniature Schnauzer.

Ok, I will ave to post more complaints, but this is the 7th window to fail. You may be wondering 7, what... Well the drivers window has now failed three(3) times, the left rear two(2) times, the Right Rear two(2) time, and the front right has yet to fail(knock on wood). Currently I have 3 windows that are all taped up to hold them in place. The worst part was that I was about 500+ miles out of waranty, and they state that I cannot get this fixed under waranty. What a bunch of BS, it was replaced under waranty 2 times already, it should still be covered. I a pretty sure there are laws against this. So now they quoted me about $400 per window, leaving me about $1200 to fix my three(3) widows.

This needs to be recalled, as t is a severe saftey problem. The windows just drop out of nowhere, I was once driving 70mph down I5 and bam, scared the hell out of me. I can't wait until somebody gets killled rom one these falling down. Or the little kid that falls out the window. That way maybe somebody will wake up and fix this massive problem.

There is no question that this is a defective part, so why hasn't it been recalled yet and delt with. OOh I know, Chrysler has filed Chapter 11 and recieved funds from the government, so much for Obama's promise in the security of buying American Cars.

I m beyond pissed, as If i choose to spend $1200 to fix the windows, aother one will fail in 6 months time.

P.S. I never use my windows, I choose to keep them closed and use the A/C. also, when the windows break, they are never in use.

Well the drivers window has now failed three(3) times, the left rear two(2) times, the Right Rear two(2) time, and the front right has yet to fail(knock on wood). Currently I have 3 windows that are all taped up to hold them in place. The worst part was that I was about 500+ miles out of warranty, and they state that I cannot get this fixed under warranty. What a bunch of BS, it was replaced under waranty 2 times already, it should still be covered. I a pretty sure there are laws against this. So now they quoted me about $400 per window, leaving me about $1200 to fix my three(3) widows.

This needs to be recalled, as t is a severe safety problem. The windows just drop out of nowhere, I was once driving 70mph down I5 and bam, scared the hell out of me. I can't wait until somebody gets killed rom one these falling down. Or the little kid that falls out the window. That way maybe somebody will wake up and fix this massive problem.

There is no question that this is a defective part, so why hasn't it been recalled yet and delt with. OOh I know, Chrysler has filed Chapter 11 and received funds from the government, so much for Obama's promise in the security of buying American Cars.

I m beyond pissed, as If i choose to spend $1200 to fix the windows, another one will fail in 6 months time.

P.S. I never use my windows, I choose to keep them closed and use the A/C. also, when the windows break, they are never in use.

Okay, so my car is 2 years old, I was on my way to Virginia and driving down the Highway the back window just dropped and we couldn't get it to go back up, went to Busch Gardens had to tape it up so that we could at least prevent any weather damage, had it fixed under warranty, that was about a month and a half ago. Today driving to work drivers window did the same thing, warranty over now. My Brother works for Chrysler and can fix it at cost which is still $197, just waiting for the other 2 to break. I filed a complaint with safercar.gov, please can everyone else who has this problem do the same thing. This needs to be recalled what a crock of crap!!!!

Okay, so here we go again. Window stuck half way on my Liberty! This time it is one of the rear windows. I had the front window regulator replaced under warranty, but hey, now I have just over 37,000 miles on Libby and here goes another window. I almost NEVER use the rear windows, maybe total 10 times has this window been put down. Today I use the rear window and it breaks. My husband managed to press on it and get it to go up, but now as I drive it is slowly moving back down. This is going to cost me about $400 if I take it to a dealer. Why Oh Why didn't Chrysler Corp do a recall on this problem. I love my Jeep and there is just no excuse for this to happen.

Almost new Jeep Liberty - Front Drivers Window stuck in the down position and would not go up. Took it in to the dealer and it was fixed under warranty. I read that other jeep owners were having this problem continually, so I asked that all the regulators in the other windows please be replaced but they said they could only replace them when and if they broke. This was totally unlike the experience we had when my daughters VW Jetta had the same window problem. She had a window fall into the door and VW not only fixed it under a recall, but replaced all of the window regulators with a new part so it wouldn't happen again. This should have been a RECALL!!

i was in the process of moving a few weeks back and my window went down and made the motor running noise but wouldnt go back up.
i am a mechanic so i took it apart to see what the problem was, well it was the plastic piece that slides up and down in the track
looked like it just busted so i looked for parts and found this figured i would add my gripe as well. and there is a guy that rebuilds the entire thing on eBay name Gato500 a hundred bucks beats the 350 at dodge
anyways why isn't this a recall
and these jeep liberty's are a pos!!!

This will be the third time I have had to take my Jeep in for the rear windows malfunction. In Feb 2008 the left rear window collapsed down and I took it in, Atlantic Jeep, Chryster, Dodge of St. Augustine Fl, with no problem getting it fixed. In July 2009 the right rear window collapsed and once again I went to the dealership and because it was still under warranty no problem getting it fixed. At this point I started researching the Jeep liberty and found this to be an on going flaw with this vehicle.

On Oct 7 2009 the left rear window once again collapsed only this time my warranty had expired. I was told that they would have to charge me for a diagnostic to find the problem and then they could give me an estimate on the cost to repair the problem. I was not a happy man at this point. The girl at the service desk was absolutely no help as she was only repeating herself about the diagnostic and charges. I explained that this is an ongoing problem with Jeep Liberty's and that this problem has been documented on several Consumer Affairs Sites including Auto Beef. I then asked for the service Manager a Mr. Traverse told him that the charges were not fair and that a diagnostic was not needed as the the problem was the same as it was when I was in two times before. The only problem is the window regulator needs to be replaced and that I felt that as this was a problem inherit to Jeep that I should not have to pay for their problem. We settle on the Chrysler insurance thing with a $25 deductable and I did agree to pay that. I do feel that with all the documentation on this problem that we consumers should not be expected to pay for MOPAR mistakes.I am going to persue this further by contacting Chrsyler by phone and by email as well as our state consumer advocates. While I am at it a quick note to my Congressman seeing how they wanted to bail them out.

I have owned this 2007 Jeep Liberty, and it has been almost trouble free(up to 39,000 miles). The other day, the right rear passenger window just disappeared into the door. We took it to the local Jeep dealer(thinking it was an easy fix, and covered by the extended warranty). Well it was covered, but only to the extent of replacing the regulator. For some unknown reason, they also have to replace the window(which is not broken). The extended warranty( which we thought was issued by Chrysler, but isn't) offers to pay only for the regulator. We are now planning on visiting the dealership where we purchased the car and the warranty in the hope of getting a more satisffactory resolution to the problem.

My Liberty is suffering from the same poor engineering by Chrysler. My rear two windows broke last year. A month ago the passenger side window broke. Given the lack of available aftermarket solutions I chose to fix it like the okie I am. I cut off a 2x4 board approximately 6 inches long, I removed the door panel, held the window up, placed the 2x4 inside the door all the way up and pressing against the bottom of the window. I then used self tapping screws and screwed the 2x4 in place. Its a cheap solution for a cheaply made vehicle. Oh yea, the driver side window fell down this last week. Same solution for that side. I wish I could get some bailout money to buy me FORD.

The drivers side rear window regulator just failed. My Jeep is now not secure & the window lift is non-functional. I'm just out of warranty & my dealer closed this past winter. I can tell that these regulators are a weak design just by how they behave & sound in normal operation. I have already had to repair the driver-front window as it never closed properly. The window alignment was not right and the glass had too much play in the plastic lift & lower glass carrier. I bonded the glass to the carrier with some urethane & its much better. I just ordered a regulator w/a lifetime warranty on eBay for $99.50 & $15.50 shipping & $20.00 refundable core charge. We'll see how this works. I know there is enough of a probem because there is an aftermarket kit solution for the 02'-06' moels via http://www.steigerperformance.com

Chrisler/Jeep should beef up the parts & replace them under warranty or at a minimum set a decent customer goodwill price on the improved replacement assembly. There's no way a window regulator should fail in less than 10 years of normal use! It's a basic engineering & business problem. Build in decent quality, take care of your customers and we're happy to tell good stories & buy more of your products. I bought this Liberty because I've had GREAT experiences with 4 prior Jeep products; 92' Cherokee, 2x 00' Grand Cherokees > 180k miles and a bullet proof 99' Wrangler 2.5l. I'm a bit worried about the durability of the Liberty. It just feels less well built so far. I'm trying to like it & become confident in it & I'm not ready to dump it, but a bit more time, miles & $ will tell.

I bought my Liberty in June 09 and the two rear windows have failed. I opened the door panel and it looks like the only thing I need is a plastic device that holds the window to the mechanism.
To my surprise, Chrysler doesn't sell that part...they sell you the whole mechanism (window regulator). Also, since they decided to re-design the regulator, you have to buy a new window which is around $120-140 (Not included in Warranty...nice). This SUCKS....Oh, by the way, I've read that new design breaks the same....

This is a clear case of how car companies make money, not selling car but selling autoparts and then saying you have to buy the wholeeee thing and then saying you have to buy another window because they redesigned something....not OUR problem...

Anyways, seeing so many complaints and seeing that windows will just keep falling (even with the new design) I decided to remove the door panels, lift the windows and put some tie wraps to hold the window in place. It works great, you get it through the white plastic device and around the car frame and window won't go down (I installed like 3-4 tie wraps on each window).

Of course these are rear windows and I don't really care about them. Not sure what I'm going to do if my front driver window breaks.....I am not very fond of paying $300-$400.

I plan on keeping my windows like that until I sell the Jeep, once I'm ready to sell...I'll fix'em...

This is the 3rd time I have had to replace rear windows in my Jeep within the last 5 months! It's not like we even use the things, but it would be nice if they would at least stay up after they break so the cats don't pee all over the upholstery. The one that just went out was supposed to be their newly redesigned replacement fix to the factory-defective ones they originally were installing in these Jeeps. I am extremely under impressed with the results Jeep is getting from their design teams. Maybe offer the guys a bonus for trying harder next time?

the 2 rear window regulators broke first and now the front left broke. those sorry people at chrysler said that to change the regulators you also have to change the windows too. they said they changed the design of the regulators due to safety issues. well no kidding there falling down on there own. this should be a recall if i have ever seen one. these stupid people want so much for there cars but don't want to fix the stuff that they should. half of the people at chrysler that make the decisions to pay or not to pay probably drive an import.these people should have to help pay out of there pockets and i am sure there decisions for the company to pay will be different. but of course if it was someone in there family or someone they know they would probably make sure they are very well taken care of.

I have a MaxCare warranty thru CarMax. If they try to tell you that they won't cover the glass, tell them that you want the "Cause and Effect" clause enforced and that the glass (uncovered) HAS to be repaired due to the failure of the regulator (covered). DO NOT let them tell you otherwise...
After that, call the dealership where you bought the car and explain to them that there are several complaints with the attorney generals offices throughout the country and many pending class-actions and that you don't feel you should have to pay a deductable for a part that Chrysler should have recalled in the first place. Ask them to cover or reimburse the cost of the deductable.

This is the fourth time I have had to take my Jeep in for window regulator issues. All other times my vehicle was under warranty and each time I had to reschedule my appointment because the dealership never had the parts on hand. When this happened on the only window that had not been replaced, I thought for certain that if I called my dealership, they would make it right since there was an obvious problem. OH HELL NO! The service guy who was always more than nice to me when my vehicle was under warranty told me that since I had not purchased an extended warranty, the window regulator or broken clip would be at my expense. I am a reasonable person, so I said, "Ok, please provide me with an estimate." He told me it would be approximately $150 to remove the door panel to "diagnose" the problem. Then he said it would be approximately another $450 to $500 because the "NEW AND IMPROVED" regulators required a new window to fix the problem correctly. Ok, now I'm paying attention, but certainly he did not understand me correctly, right? So, I told the nice man again of my problem and described how this had been an ongoing issue. I also inquired as to why when they replaced the first three regulators they had not had to replace the glass as well. He could not answer that question. I asked to speak with someone who could help me and he told me he was it. I went into my office and called another local dealership. The man I spoke with there told me to contact Chrysler and gave me the number. After explaining the situation to the man at Chrysler, he basically tried to tell me the same thing the first service man told me. That's when I got a little upset and asked him how he would feel if it were him in this situation and what he felt would be a fair resolution. That is when he asked me if I wanted assistance from Chrysler. I told him, "Yes, I would appreciate that very much." He said I would have to pay for the dealership to diagnose the issue and pay a deductible of some sort, but that they would take care of the rest. Of course after all of this, I wanted to know if they were going to replace all four windows and he told me in no uncertain terms that Chrysler will NOT pay for something that is not broken. I told him that was fine and that I would also be contacting an attorney and he could add that to his system notes.

This is one of the most unjust set of circumstances I have ever had to deal with regarding a vehicle and I am 47 years old. If the manufacturer of the regulators and clips sold a faulty product, they should be responsible for replacing the defective parts including the windows to fit the new regulators. Now for the biggest irony in all of this; the dealer only has one regulator in stock and it is one of the original faulty ones, so now I have to wait for them to ask Chrysler what they should do before I can get my window fixed.

NEVER AGAIN WILL I BUY ANOTHER JEEP, CHRYSLER OR DODGE! I'M GOING BACK TO A CHEVY WITH WINDOWS THAT ROLL DOWN!

Un freeking believable. This is the sixth time I have had to take this vehicle in for repair for the same problem. Jeep will not admit they have a problem with this regulator.

Now, since they have shut down every dealership in Las Vegas except for one on the far east side of town, I have the added inconvienience of an hour drive to get this thing fixed.

I work 60 hours a week, so when this happens I can't get to the dealership immediately. This last time the regulaor failed when I was at work. I come to my car to discover my laptop and sunglasses were stolen.

Thank you Jeep. Never again will I cause my self so much grief and aggravation by purchasing one of your products. In a few years when you are saying how much better your cars are, remember it was the service, and refusal to admit there was a problem that has made reach this conclusion.

Since many of you seem to be having the same problem with your regulators, and Jeep refuses to recall the product, I wonder what it would take to file a class action lawsuit against the company. I am willing and ready. pddorrian@yahoo.com

So I hear from the mechanic that they no longer make this type of a regulator and I quote
"Due to MASS RETURNS on regulators and motors due to a defect on the equipment they no longer produce that type of regulator. The dealer no longer stocks or can get that type therefore we had to get the new distributed regulator/motor which will not fit on the old door glass. The new regulators have a different bracket which calls for the door glass to be replaced as well." THIS SHOULD BE LISTED AS UNDER MANUFACTURER'S EXPENSES.

I know there are a lot of complaints on-line about faulty window regulators in Jeep Liberty vehicles. Potential buyers really should take these complaints seriously. I wish I had read them before buying my second Jeep Liberty and going through this problem twice. When the problem happened with my 2002 Jeep Liberty (right after the warranty ended), the mechanics at the Jeep dealership service station repeatedly insisted that faulty window regulators were not common and the fact that I had to replace both back window regulators and one front regulator was an unusual problem limited to my particular Jeep Liberty. Whatever! Because I loved my Jeep (other than the window problems) and because I was assured that the problem with the windows was not a common problem of all Jeep Libertys' I actually bought another one. Almost immediatly after my warranty ended, one back window regulator failed. It cost over $300 to repair. Three months ago, the other back window regulator failed (luckily, a mechanic friend of mine was willing to repair that window regulator for the cost of the part without charging me for labor). It cost me around $40 and took him about an hour to replace. Then, just last Friday, my front passenger window regulator failed. My mechanic friend has moved, so I am on my own for this one. The first price I was given by the Jeep service station was around $160. Then, two minutes later, the price jumped to over $400 when the service representative remembered that you now have to replace the window. It finally ended up being around $350 when he realized he had quoted me a price where he included $62 for a part of the regulator that was actually 62 cents. Because the window regulator broke on Friday and the parts will not be in until Monday (tomorrow) my car is now sitting in my driveway, window dropped down into the door, with a garbage bag taped over it to keep rain out. I will NEVER EVER buy another Jeep again. If Jeep does the right thing and finally admits their mistake and recalls their faulty, piece of crap window regulators, I may eventually stop telling everyone I know not to buy a Jeep but until that happens, I think everyone needs to be made aware of this problem.

I bought a 2007 Jeep Liberty in May 2008; the first window regulator broke 6 weeks later. I have since had 5 windows fixed/replaced, the most recent last week. My warranty is up in 4000 miles and I'm being told that I will have to pay for the repairs then. It seems ridiculous that they fix something with the same defective part and it continues to break. I have come out of work or the store to find my window down (after it just falls) and the car accessible to any thief who wants it; I'm afraid to go anywhere for fear that my car will be stolen. I have read numerous complaints online from people who are having the same problem.

There should be a recall and Chrysler/Jeep should be forced to fix all windows for free. If people didn't have to pay for all these repairs, we could afford to ban together and sue.

Well, I bought a used 2007 Jeep Liberty and first the front passenger's side window started to fail and now the drivers side window is history. The window's regulators suck to say the least and I don't have the money to fix it. I have a warranty that I bought but it seems that this is a continuing problem with this vehicle.
