This is the third window that goes out. I haven't fixed it. I haven't fixed the second one either. I did what some of my fellow F150 owners have done and used vise grips on the frame of the window. It's a pain cause you have to take the door panel off. The first one cost me about $165 to fix and that was only cause I worked at a car dealer and they bought the part wholesale and sold it to me at cost and they didn't charge me for the labor. These other two that are out are gonna cost me about that much each just for the part. I found a website that illustrates how to replace it, which is pretty cool. It gives a very comprehensive description. As soon as I have the money to fix them, I'm going to use this site's instructions. It is very annoying, especially when they happen within days of each other.

Went to roll down window, pop/crash. The window won't roll-up. It sounds exactly like the same issue everyone else is having. Going to have the costs for repairs checked out and possibly see about fixing it myself. Never been a Ford believer, but thought I would give it a try. Big mistake. Very disappointed.

Last week I tried to roll up the window. It would not budge. I called the Ford dealer and they told me it would be $135 to diagnose the problem. The tech automatically knew the problem and told me that he could "save me money" by telling me to tell the shop to order a new motor and regulator for the window. That way I would not have to pay the fee to diagnose the problem. The parts and labor would be only $400. Wow!! What a bargain. I'm no mechanic. How do I really know what is wrong with the window. Seems like they are trying to make money off of chumps who don't really know better. P.S. the dealer is in San Leandro, CA on Marina Blvd.

Hey I thought Ford was suppose to be built Ford Tough? I thought I was going to get through this problem fairly easy now it looks like that I will have to just wait and worry when the other 3 windows will fail me now and where and when. I think its sorry that Ford isn't doing anything to help its customers. I have been a loyal Ford owner for over twenty years, I have bought 7 Fords in those twenty years. I don't think I will be buying the eighth. If Ford can't help the people who are experiencing this manufacturing flaw, I don't think I will help Ford by purchasing there product anymore. Winter is starting, temperatures are falling, Stocks are falling, economy sucks, last thing I need is to drop $400 on this problem.(then have to wait on dropping $1200 on the other 3 windows when they fail). Thanks Ford for nothing, that's the way to treat your customers. I mean Ex customer.

A beautiful truck that I really love and I have never had a problem with a window before. I lowered it on my way home yesterday and it would not roll up. I stopped by Joe Cotton Ford in Carol Stream and asked them to take a look. The "look" cost me $110 and came with a $438 quote. I was surprised to see so many window problems with this truck on the web site. If this may repeat, which it appears, then I'm going to fix this myself. If anyone has tried to replace please let me know the pitfalls. Thanks, Jerry

Well, my truck has a whole 13,XXX miles on it and I'm already having to deal with window problems. Same story as usual, hear a loud pop and the window retreats into the door. At least I have a regular cab, so only two windows can go out on this thing, right?!?!

I really love my truck, but hate Ford for not acknowledging an obvious problem that many owners are having. Also, the window regulator that I'm replacing has the exact same cheap plastic tabs, but who knows, maybe they'll last a whole 13,XXX miles more, woohoo!

After removing my door panel, I was able to pushl the window up by hand. I then attached a set of Vise-Grips to the door frame, which is keeping my window up in the meantime. I'm able to order the replacement part for $110 online which is a whole lot better than the $380 that my local dealership wants to fix it, but I'm still pissed. Not to pimp a website, but go to F150online.com and use the search function to learn how to fix this problem yourself. I'm pretty stupid when it comes to vehicles, but if you have a basic set of tools it looks to be a fairly easy fix.

I found this website by looking for answers on how to remove window motor/regulator. I noticed alot of complaints about the powerwindows on newer and older ford F150's. So I had to join and post what CHEAP F***ing BULLSHIT FORD is pulling. I pulled motor/regulator out and disconnected motor from regulator pulley. I noticed that 3 plastic nobs/tabs that interlock motor to pulley WERE SNAPPED OFF. Is Ford being cheap or what? It will be to the best of Fords interest to recall or fix problem ASAP! The truck only has 63,000 miles on it, and windows are not over used.

I WAS DRIVING DOWN THE HIGHWAY AND DECIDE TO RAISE MY WINDOW AS A 18-WHEEL WAS PASSING. AS THE WINDOW CLOSED I HAD A LOUD POP. I DIDN'T REALIZE WHAT IS WAS SO I WENT TO LOWER THE WINDOW TO INVESTIGATE, AND IT JUST WENT STRAIGHT DOWN. AFTER TAKING APART THE DOOR, I FIGURED OUT A SHORT CUT. REMOVE THE SPEAKER COVER, AND SPEAKER, THAT WILL GIVE U ACCESS TO THE WINDOW. FROM THERE I LIFTED THE WINDOW WITH MY HAND AND PUSHING THE SWITCH UP/DOWN TO GIVE ME THE SLACK I NEEDED TO GET IT UP. I THEN TOOK A PAIR OF VISE GRIPS AND CLAMP IT TO THE BRACKET JUST UNDER THE WINDOW. THAT WORKED FOR SECURITY PURPOSE BUT

Well, it obviously looks like we aren't the only one inconvenienced by Ford's inability to build a truck right the first time. Our window just short of fell in the door, only because my husband is quick handed and caught it, drove all the way home, HOLDING the window. I was driving to work and my driver side window just dropped into the door. I tried to roll it back up but it didnt respond. I turned around and went back home. I called my boss and told him the problem. 1 day off work. I took the door panel off and found the problem. the redesigned, built ford tough, piece of crap, cheap ($160.00) window regulator, was a tangled mess of cables.. the plastic drive pulley was trash. Apparently one of the cables came loose from its plastic holder and the window just fell into the door. When i hit a pot hole in the road it let go. I replaced it with an identical piece of crap. I hope it holds....Sept, 1st 2008. 2 months later, I was driving down the street, when I crossed some railroad tracks my passenger window fell into the door. OH CRAP! not again. I went home and removed the other door panel, called Joe Cooper Ford, this time its $189.00. OMG they went up! did someone mention class action law suit? count me in! This will be the last Ford Truck I buy, I already swore off their cars. Now, Toyota or Nissan will be my next truck.

I wrote this letter in part to Ford Motor Company. If you want them to hear your complaint cut and past this address below. I hope it will do you good.

https://secure.ford.com/footer/contact-ford/contact-us-email?contactMainTopic=VehicleServiceIssues

To the Corporate Monkeys at Ford:
I dislike cursing and hearing vulgar language with over 120,000 words in the English language. To curse is a feeble attempt at a punning mind to express one self forcefully. But sometimes just the opposite is true so listen up you mother f****rs. You have failed miserably your loyal customers with the 2004 Ford 150 window assembly. I was put in the care of my fathers truck with 20,811 miles while he was out of state, it was not driven and this truck was put in storage, then when he comes back and gets in his truck both windows fall into the door within 5 seconds of each other. I get accuses of destroying his vehicle and loose his trust, I'm a 44 years old (like I deserve this.)
I end up loosing a day of work; take the door panels off, windows out, the widow assemblys off, drive 80miles to dealership (roundtrip). Pay $105.00 for the passenger side and (your f***ed up price of 33% more for the drivers side $154.00). Its now back together but it gets better. All of this because of a 5 cent piece of plastic clamp that you refuse to change to a metal piece or sale by itself and make the cable hole bigger thru the clamp. Tell me? for what reason did I need to purchase a new motor and gearing assembly when just removing 3 screws I could of reused it. Oh yea what a fix you came up with. So f*** you, and your mother, and especially your company. FORD

NOTE: If your not great with tools do NOT Replace this yourself. But know this FORD will Charge you 1.5 Book hours for this repair. BUT it will only take 15 to 20 min. I learned something today. I always owned a Ford since 1981 and still have one, but NEVER AGAIN.

Well, I just left a complaint on here a few weeks ago about window number 3 falling, still haven't gotten that one fixed and today window number 4 fell. Lovely! That now makes a perfect 100% of my windows that have fallen. I came home and printed every single problem listed here regarding the windows falling....47 pages worth..and took it to the ford dealership. They weren't interested. They said it's too much of a pain to up-channel these problems to Ford and the only way they would have a recall is if enough people called and complained. I got the number from them..1-800-392-FORD....and called. But after navigating through their system I got a message that said their customer service is closed due to the tropical storm. I love Ford. This is sooooo much fun.

Well, add me to the list for this defective part. My truck is now 4 years old and has only 19,000 miles on it (but outside of Fords crappy 3/36000 factory warranty). I keep this truck in my garage and really baby it (not the low miles). Now of course, I wish I had driven it the full 36000 miles before the warranty expired. I called my local Ford dealer and got a quote of $365 to fix the part. The service rep was VERY familiar with the problem. I was pretty upset that this part would fail so early in the trucks life so I called Ford to see if they would help cover the cost of fixing this since my miles were so low. They took about 5 days to think about it and then called me back and said, 'no way'. So I told them that I thought is was pretty short sighted for them not to stand by their product in light of the low miles on it and the cost of driving away a customer for life. They could care less. I guess my next truck will be a Toyota Tundra. Ford Quality is a joke!

This happened while my wife was driving the truck--rolled window down and when attempting to roll it back up, it just slipped down inside the door. Pushing the up-down button just emits a whining noise - I'd love to try and fix it myself, but am not sure if I'd be successful and don't exactly know how to disassemble the door panel to do it. It really makes it bad, because we can't park the truck at the store for fear someone will burglarize it. Can't park it outside, because it might rain or some cat will get in there and urinate. Really annoying. I'm trying to dig myself out of credit card debt, and have been making progress for two years, but I don't have $300 or $400 to put toward this problem right now.

Well this is the 4th window to drop. I was out of town in Mexicali and like all the others I rolled down the window a bit and it started falling. Luckily my cousin held the window up, because its was 118 degrees outside. I taped the window to hold it up. My brother also has an 04 F-150 his window also dropped. We both don't have the money right now to fix the problem. And from seeing how much it cost to repair, I think this window will be out of service until I trade this crap in. hopeful Ford will recall this problem, but from reading all these blogs seems like they are not willing to work with anyone. Well, yesterday I parked my truck at my house with the windows rolled up half ways. Later that day, we got in the truck and the first thing I wanted to do, was to roll up the window to turn on the a/c 'cause it was so humid and hot outside. Well, as soon as I pushed the up button, a loud noise was heard and then a crushing sound. It was the window that never came back up. Immediately thought it was the window motor and every time we pressed the up/down button, we heard the crushing sound.
It was getting dark, so we had to leave the truck parked outside with the window down all night. The next morning, my husband investigated what was going on with this window. We searched the problem in the internet and were surprised as to how many people had the same problem. We printed out instructions on how to remove the door panel to see if the window motor or regulator were the problem; as that is, what seemed to be wrong with everyone owing a '04 F-150. Well, the first thing my husband noticed was that the cables were all jammed and the pulley was much damaged. We want to fix it ourselves since it is expensive to get it done at the dealership.
Now, I'm very frustrated since this is the vehicle we rely on for road trips and almost everything else. We live across the border to Mexico and it's not safe to even park a truck with the windows up, so having a window break or just fall down is a big NO, NO! How am I supposed to feel comfortable after reading that many people have all windows come down/break and that the problem continues even after the window has been fixed (with a new window regulator and motor)? It is ridiculous and do hope that these problems are investigated and recalled. It is obviously a factory/manufacturer's problem, should not be ours! >:(

Well i really think ford need to do a recall on this and get something done and take care of there customers. they built tough but i believe built wrong describes this more then anything. also there are no retainers on the cable system in door and they have scratched and left marks on the windows from times of windows working. So maybe ford will come through and do the right thing otherwise we just suffer without the conveniences and die of heat or get soaked by the rain and snow or the bill. help me out here please. also does anyone know where to get the picture of manual of assembly of cables motors and regulators to look into myself thanks guys :) rayprice3381@hotmail.com looking for help and info :)

This is the second power window to fall out due to the faulty window regulator used in their F-150's. I contacted Ford and the dealership who offered no help or assistance. Ford is aware of this problem but is unwilling to remedy the situation, hopefully there will be a class action lawsuit. The parts guy at the local Ford dealership stated the sell a ton of these units (window regulators) and constantly reorder them to keep them in stock. This is the second window within a year that has done this. I am now waiting for the remaining two windows to fall out (crew cab).THANKS ALOT FORD!!! I will no longer buy Ford products and hopefully can sell the truck before the other two windows fall out.

I have a 2004 F-150 SuperCrew, I know this truck may not be the most expensive, but it definitely isn't the cheapest either. I am pretty easy on my vehicles (duh Im a girl) and use it basically for going to and from work. The other day I was checking out of work, they scan badges for security purposes and my damn window didn't go back up..Sounded like the entire window shattered. Lets also mention the fact that it was 99 degrees with a heat index of 110. That being said I took the truck home and took the door panel off and the cable had tangled up like a thin necklace. Next day I go to Autozone to get a regulator or motor not sure which part encompasses the cable and they cant find the stupid part. So right now Im stuck with a damn window on a towel and 2x4.. Can you say extremely embarrassing. You dont realize how many times you use your window until it goes kaput..like banks, drive throughs, checking in/out at work.....etc. does anyone know where you can get just the cable? The motor is working I can see it spinning.. The slide arms are working the window falls down smoothly haha. The cable is frayed and kinked though (probably from my wishful thinking that if I hit the button one more time it will magically work)

The front window started cracking out there is no rock chip several work trucks we have are 2007 f250 and the windows are cracking out in the same place they need to correct the problem

Well it just happened to me and I called the autoparts store and sure enough they want about 140.00 for the part. I just got a job delivering mail in my own vehicle. It would be very costly if I were parked for lunch and the window just falls and someone would have access to the mail when I am supposed to protect the mail. Looking at trading it in for a Chevy or anything but a FORD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I just had the passenger window fixed on my F-150 last week and the dealer told me these were many of these coming in lately. Now, Monday morning I am driving up the highway and it started to rain. I pushed the button to raise the windows up, and POP goes the drivers side window, as it slowly slides down into the door. Now, I am 20 miles out of town on a rural highway in Missouri and it's pouring rain and my window is all the way open. Nice. so Now I am waiting for the dealer to get another part sometime tomorrow or the next day for a defect that Ford does not want to admit to. Reliability had been the reason I advocated Ford trucks, but the Quality Job #1 seems to have left the product support once they cash the check for the purchase.

Being a Ford advocate, and living the Quality Job #1 on all the Fords I have owned over the years I am quite shocked that Ford is not stepping up to this obvious defect of the "popping window cables" on the vehicles affected. I was driving down the road and when it began to rain I pushed the button to raise the window closed and heard the loud POP that sounded as if my door had been hit with a bullet. Looking over I saw the widow slowly slide down into the door. The best fortune was the Ford dealer told me it would take a day to get the part in stock, and that he could tell me exactly what this would cost based on the other F-150's he has had in the shop over the past several weeks with the same issue. It was fixed the next day at my expense...but see the next complaint

3 of my 4 window regulators have broken in my 04 f-150. 2 of the 3 times it was covered under the manufacture warranty and now the 3rd time I have the extended warranty and I am expected to pay my $100 deductible. Because this is an obvious manufacture problem I have contacted Ford directly. This morning I argued with Ford who told me that because not enough people have complained to them about it, they have not issued any type of recall and I am responsible for the $100. It is an obvious problem for many people because there are a number of forums on this specific problem. I am still fighting and dont plan on giving up because in a matter of 6 months the 4th window is going to break and I am going to have to pay another $100 deductible. If this happens to you please go to FordMotorcompany.com and email them your complaint. Dont just pay to get it broken.

On alot of the other complaints I am seeing heat as one of the problems but sounds like its the regulator. Ford should have a recall on this with all the same complaints I am seeing on here.

This is the 2nd time for the front passenger window to fall. I heard the pop in the door just after rolling it up, and looked over to watch it fall. It was 118 degrees out, and the A/C is NOT that good!

Last time it was covered under warranty. This time I have to fix it. I guess the 2006 or newer regulator work better. I would have though that is what ford dealer would have done last time it was repaired, and if they did then they are not better. The dealer that did the work was Earnhart, and the are a crummy dealership! They probably did not use the new part.

When we got the truck in 2004, about 6 months later, the rear drivers side widow fell down. About a year later, the front driver's side was down when i came out in the morning. About 8 months later, the rear drivers side window fell down (just when we were leaving for the airport to go on vacation). about July 10th the rear passengers side widow went "pop" and fell in to the door, a week later the passenger side front did the same thing. The first three times it was covered under warranty, obviously now, its out of warranty.

I read about all the window problems on your blog and was thankflul I didn't have that problem...YET!!! Well..yesterday ..BANG!! My husband was driving and I thought someone had run into us. We stopped and he got out and walked around the truck...No damage. 10 minutes later we parked and he rolled down the driver's window and KERPLUNK, the window fell down into the door! We have $250 deductible and the repair may not even be covered. My husband has owned FORDS all of his adult life, but this is probably the last. This truck has only 17000 miles on it and looks new. As soon as the window is fixed we plan to trade it for another brand. Oh..and the main switch to the rear-left window went south last month! Consumer Affairs for the State of Florida will receive my complaint on this should be recall. How many customers has Ford sent to its competion due to this problem?

RE: Faulty Window Regulators - 2004 Ford Pickup Trucks

I own a 2004 F150 Supercrew. When I purchased the vehicle I also purchased an extended warranty that was suppose to cover the vehicle bumper to bumper. Or, so I was told when I purchased the coverage. In addition to having the rear end repaired twice the windows also seem to be defective. My first window fell when I only had 37000 on the vehicle. So much for an extended warranty. I still had to pay $100.00 to cover the deductible. No deductible was mentioned when I was writing the check for the extended coverage. I was very concerned as my next door neighbor, who also owns a 2004 F150 Supercrew, has had all 4 windows break. I now have 45000 on my truck and window #2 has broken. My wife and I were sitting at a stop sign when we heard a loud bang. We thought someone had thrown something at the truck. When we couldn't see anything on the ground, we figured out it must be one of the windows. We pushed the button to roll down the back window and that was it. Window number 2 had broken. It's over 100 degrees, we have errands to run, and can't use the vehicle. I don't know what we would do if we were traveling or shopping and this happened. Not only could our belongings be stolen but, its possible the truck could be stolen as well. I am now not comfortable taking my truck any where. Its very disturbing to pay for a new vehicle and have things like this happen. I have been working on cars for years, have built race cars, street rods and have worked at car dealerships. I have never seen door window regulators fail like this. This window has maybe been used 10 times. I rarely have anyone sitting in the back seat. This indicates to me that Ford installed defective window regulators in some of the F150 trucks. These parts should last for many years before having to be replaced. I know the motors can burn out and a switch may go bad, but its rare to see a regulator fail in a new vehicle.

It seems to me that this qualifies as a recall or bulletin at the least. You can imagine my anger when I found out that I had to pay for the repair. Not only should this not happen in a new vehicle, now I am not sure I should even take the chance to drive it anywhere for fear it could be stolen. Please know that if anything is stolen out of my truck or the vehicle it self is stolen, because the window has broken, I will alert my insurance carrier of the window situation.

After looking on the internet, I see I am not alone. This problem has happened to many others.
I would appreciate an explanation why this is not considered a recall. I would also appreciate an explanation why I am required to pay anything at all for the repair.

Sincerely,

Dennis D. Ferris

I am from AZ so remember its the summer and around 100 degrees. I had left from lunch and shut my door and I heard a popping. Driving down the interstate when all of a sudden the window collapsed down into the door frame. Attempted to roll the window up, but window will not roll back up. It was pouring down rain and myself and my grandchild became soaked . I pulled over at the next available exit and purchased a box of large kitchen bags and a roll of DUCT Tape. Thank God For Duct Tape!! When I returned home my husband removed the door panel to find what looked like a wound up spool of fishing line. Instead it was the window regulator that had failed. This is very dangerous and scary event when your traveling 70 MPH and out of know where the window just drops and a sudden Bam occurs as it lands inside the door. FORD really needs to take a look at this design and fix the problems with it and with my vehicle.

I am taking my truck to the dealership this evening after work to leave it to be repaired for the second time in less than a month and they will have to give me a loaner. This is the fourth and I hope final window unit we have had to fix at our expense!
My husband has purchased Ford trucks exclusively since 1972 with the exception of a Toyota SR5. I have purchased 2 new Explorers and this is my 3rd F150 Super Crew. I am not happy that we have had to pay out of our own pockets to fix an obvious design flaw or defect. Not to mention I live 60 miles from the dealership and have to burn unnecessary gas to take the truck to them and go get it when it is fixed, when gas is nearly $4.00 a gallon!

There were 107 complaints I read and almost everyone of them had more than one window unit to fail!! FORD, I hope you read these because if we don't get some help we won't buy another Ford product. This is a major aggravation to me!!!

This is the 3rd regulator to go. 1st the front driver's side, then the front passenger's side, now the rear passenger's side. And I probably rolled that window up and down a total of less than 10 times. And I was not using it when it broke. It just got tired and snapped. Parts are a POS and Ford knows it. I see that there are many complaints about this same problem. Redlands Ford technician told me that it was going to cost $335.00 to have the regulator replaced. He never even looked at the truck window before he told me what was wrong. I guess it is a known very frequent problem with these truck windows. I wish Ford would make a complete vehicle without all of these small annoyances. I guess I now know why they only have a standard 3 year/ 36,000 mile warranty. They know there product is not going to last.

Then on Fri. 6/20 I went to start the truck up in the evening and rolled the windows down and the driver side window fell and wouldn't roll up! It took me about two hours to replace each one. Both windows rolled down and would not roll back up. I asked the dealer if there was recall or fix for this problem. They told me they were not aware of a problem. Interesting to find so many complaints on autobeef. The new regulator/motor kits they sold me appear to be the same as the old ones I took out. It all started with all windows making loud squeaky noises when rolling up or down. Then the driver's window wouldn't roll up any longer. This was followed by the left rear window, and shortly after, the passenger front window. The regulator motor for each window cost me $240 plus labor costs, and the warranty wouldn't cover it according to the local dealer. Window #2 that has went out in the past year. This time it was the cable on the regulator that broke. The part cost $149 at Ford dealership and it took me a couple of hours to fix. I did ask the part salesman if there was ever going to be a solution to this from Ford and he told me that Ford does not see it as a significant problem.

My drivers side rear window fell into the door last month. We took it to the Ford dealer to get fixed and the extended warranty we purchased just happened to not cover that problem (imagine that!) About 2 weeks after getting that fixed, which cost us $300, the passengers side front window did the same thing. I took the panel off and screwed a screw into the window guiding post to keep the window up until I was able to get that fixed. Just yesterday, the passengers side rear window fell into the door after crossing a railroad track. So now I have 2 windows that need to be fixed. OK, we paid for the 1st window thinking it was just a mechanical problem or something maybe my 3 year old messed with but after the 2nd and 3rd window...something is not right! There has to be some type of recall from Ford with all of these complaints. Any suggestions from anybody????

I have a 2004 F-150 Supercrew 5.4. I have have the rear sliding window repaired twice, the front Drivers side, front passengers side, rear passengers side and now (April 27, 2008) the last window that had not been repaired is broke as well. 5 windows = 6 repairs. Something doesn't add up to me. I have called Ford Customer service and get the same crap every time. I would like to have FORD repair it at there cost. (40,000 miles).

Went out to my truck in a dark empty parking lot and my driver window was down. I thought someone had broke into my truck until I got in and realized that the window had just fallen for no apparent reason. Months before it fell there was a "glass scratching" noise that I brought up to the dealership but they said there was no problem! So now I am out of warranty and will have to pay hundreds of dollars for a problem that seems to be common on this truck.

I was sitting in my vehicle taking on my cell phone, I had the windows down a little for ventilation, and all of a sudden, the driver's window fell into the door, it scared the crap out me. I thought the window had broken or something, I tried to put it back up, but it would not go up. So, I put all the rest of the windows up. Because the dealership was already closed for the day, I called my brother and told him what had happened. I went to get my brother to put the window back into the upright position. He said the wiring harness looked as if it had exploded which goes to the window motor. I had been complaining to the Ford dealership about this window making a dragging sound while it was going up and down they told me they had checked it and found nothing wrong, but they had greased it as a courtesy. Well, I think they should pay to fix it since I have been complaining all this time, and they knew there was an ongoing problem, and they tried to cover it up. I called The Ford Customer Service center to see what hey would say, they told me to take the vehicle to the dealership to have it looked at, and then to call them back, but at this time they had no idea that there was a problem with the windows in these vehicles, and that if customers do not let them know they have no knowledge of problems. So, write to Ford with your complaints!!!!! It's not the money, it the principle. I will call the local news stations, and put this on T.V if I have to.

Just to let you know the reason the regulator doesn't work is usually a plastic piece which has broken on my vehicle three times. Finally I refused to pay them to repair it since its happened three times. During my investigation found that the cable that slips into the the white plastic piece will break. Went to the dealership to buy the plastic piece and supposedly you cant just buy that piece. Which leads me to believe this is done intentionally. Most businesses that have continuous problems isolate them so that instead of servicing the whole entire structure they can just repair that problem. When they repair yours they probably take off the good pieces to repair other minor problems at the full cost. If Ford sends me a $10,000 rebate for the next vehicle I might consider buying another one. To find out what the trucks cost, do the regular maintenance, now repair problems that you know were left intentionally to add to there profits has left me contemplating that big Cooperations are in it to line there own pockets.

PAIN IN THE ASS! I absolutely HATE this truck. When I got home today my window was up. I walked outside and noticed that my window was down. I turned the truck on and tried to roll it up thinking I may have forgot to roll it up. Definitely not the case! When I went to roll the window up it just sounds like broken glass! I will be SO ANGY if I have to replace one more thing on this truck. The fact that it only gets 12mpg is bad enough! I AM SELLING THIS TRUCK THIS WEEK! ABSOLUTELY FED UP WITH FORD!

I did some research and it appears its one of those bugs that should have been recalled but like all issues and their stock in the toilet it appears this is being ignored as well. It just happened to me today (04/08/08) and Now I'm searching to see if anyone else has had this same issue. Ype...many have.
How can something break that is rarely used, in this modern day of science and improved mechanical engineering it looks like some of you might be right and it was a defect intentional to stir additional compensation. Why cant they make products to last? What happened to American quality, Ford Tuff?

This is the second time that this has happened. I didn't even think to look if others where having a problem when it happened the first time.

This could have been a real issue if someone had driven by and seen the window down over the holiday weekend. First time was the front drives window and this time it is the rear drivers side. I was not even in the car or even home when this one broke. I wonder how many people are like me in that they have had the issue but until it happens the second time they just think it was a normal issue.

This has to be a real issue and needs to be taken care of.

Like many other F-150 owners, the window fell into the door (drivers) and I had a 3 hour drive on the interstate at 25 degrees. Inconvenient to say the least. Part was $163.00 through Ford and labor was $108.00 at my independent shop.

This is the fourth time the window regulator motor goes bad. I was beginning to think that they are replacing the motors with junk. If ford is aware of this issue it should be a recall or replace for free. This is not a wear and tear issue. The window was rolled up and all of the sudden rolled down. This sucks. Each time I had to wait for Ford to replace the window regulator and charge me for it.

I can see that this is a problem that has occurred to other Ford owners. I am going to contact the local Ford dealership and see what they intend to do about this problem. I believe Ford does have a problem with the electric windows in the super and crew cab F150's. I will update later as to what I find out.

Motor, cables and guides needed to be replaced. Ford doesn't fix on small part, the whole thing needs to be replaced. No cause given, just failed one night. Woke up in the morning to open windshield on drivers side. engine still worked but they charged me for full replacement. Did they even replace the windshield motor? I should have asked for the broken part.

This is the second window to go out. The driver's window made an awful sound and the window dropped. I rigged the back passenger window to stay up by taking the door panel off. Now I have to pay to replace two broken power windows. Ford needs to recall this problem!

Well, looks like I am joining the club. This is the second time in 1 1/2 years.
Yes, $800 down the drain. For the so called truck of the year 2004 F-150 Lariat.
This is an issue Ford must address. I am seriously getting tired of this.
I am going to trade this truck in. Maybe I will just start supporting the Japanese.

It started with all windows rolling up slow. I could play with the buttons & they finally would up.Then all of a sudden all in 1 day all 4 never rolled up again. All in about 1 week time. Lucky I have a 1993 nissan pick-up with 156,024 miles for reliable transportation.
This definately seems like a heat issue seeing how all the complaints are from warm climate. No wonder Ford is going broke & selling Jaguar & Landrover for a 2 billion dollar lost. Somebody has to pay, may as well be the loyal customer.

Well, considering everyone here has the same problem, going in to details won't really help much. Two regulators broke before 40,000 miles and it sucks and there is nothing I can do. I can't afford to fix them, so we took the door panel off and rigged them to stay up. Good thing they put in a good A/C unit because summers reach well over 100 degrees around here. Hopefully someone can figure out how to get this part recalled...I've already sent as much information as possible to my local news station sin hopes of ruining Fords already horrible reputation.

I can not believe I am back here again. We were driving to town and we hear a loud sound like someone hitting the side of the truck and then it happened again, the passenger side window started going down. The was at seven o'clock at night and it was forty degrees outside. I am so not happy with this.
Ford you better do something about it. It's not like I have four hundred dollars to part with every couple of months. Now we are just waiting for the other two to go bad or should we just have them replaced at the same time to avoid not having the use of the truck for two days at a time. RECALL FOR THIS PROBLEM IS A MUST. At $400 a window FORD gets and additional $1,600 per truck, another way for FORD to make more money.

I was on the freeway when it sounded like someone shot and hit my truck. As I was driving the rear passenger window started going down. I tried to get it to go back up but my controls did not work. The window ended up all the way down in the door. This cost us $360.00 and we have not even reached 40000 miles yet.
Ford really needs to do something about this because the guys that fixed it said that he repairs this problem a lot.
